Don’t politicize Anambra airport project – Professional bodies tell Obiano

The Anambra State branch of the Association of Professional Bodies in Nigeria (APBN), said yesterday that it was unhappy with the slow pace of work at the site of the International Cargo Airport project in Umuleri in Anambra East local government area being executed by the state government.

Chairman of the body, Dr. Akaolisa Ezeagu, who spoke in Awka, regretted that the speed at which the project started had dropped significantly, urging the government not to play politics with the project.

According to him, Anambra professionals would not want to believe that the project was used to score political points, in view of its enormous economic significances to the state, adding that the concept of the cargo airport and the way the state government went about it initially indicated professionalism.

He said: “If the state would have the airport, being one of the states with the highest commercial activities, it will definitely boost trade in the state.

“The concept of the project is where aircrafts are going to be re-fuelled, among other facilities and it would be the first of its kind in the sub-saharan Africa. There will be enough dividends derivable from the project and so it is not something government should play politics with at all.

“As professionals, we know the cost implications of the project. It is a capital intensive project which will be impossible for the state to carry out single-handedly.

“That is why it should review the Public Private Partnership policy because if it is a monolithic PPP policy, the financial capability of the company may dwindle at any point in time. The project needs to be segmented with aggregated PPP in order to actualize the dream at a record time.

Describing the airport as a key developmental project, which would sustain the state’s economy for a long time, the chairman urged the government to see to its actualization before the expiration of the Obiano administration.

Stop sit-up exercise

The sit-up is an effective exercise for anyone who wants to train both the abdominals and hip flexors. However, it’s also been shown to impose extremely large compression forces on the discs in your spine. That’s a problem. Bend a wire coat hanger back and forth and, eventually, it will snap. You can’t predict in advance exactly how many bends it will take before it breaks. But you know it’s going to happen sooner or later. Likewise, the discs in your spine can only tolerate so many bending cycles before the accumulated damage manifests itself in the form of pain. Sit-ups may not damage your spine right away. But each set could be moving you one step closer to a crippling back injury that keeps you out of the gym for some time. There are also better abs exercises to choose from. In fact, certain exercises have been shown, in some studies anyway, to work the abdominal muscles harder than sit-ups. These abdominal exercises not only work your stomach muscles but they increase the st...

Health benefit one 1 banana a day

Bananas are good for bowel regularity and satiety Adding a banana to your daily diet has an array of benefits in your body. Bananas help you reach your weight-loss goals, keep your bowels healthy, provide nutrients that regulate heart rhythm and have vitamin compounds for eye health. Keep a bunch of bananas on your desk at work and replenish your stock each week. You’ll be more likely to reach for a healthy banana — instead of heading to the vending machine — if you have a bunch sitting in front of you. Weight Loss Finding foods to fit into your weight-loss diet can be challenging, but bananas make a perfect fit. Bananas are naturally sweet and can help curb your sweet tooth if you get that afternoon sugar craving. A 6-inch banana has a minimal 90 calories, about one-fourth of the calories you would get from a chocolate candy bar. Additionally, about half of the fiber content in bananas is soluble. When soluble fiber reaches your digestive tract, it absorbs water...
